Would You Like To Play and Teach Guitar Full-time?
Sharing your passion for the instrument. Helping the next generation of guitarists become great players. Deepening and refining your own guitar skills and understanding of music.
We are currently looking for one or two exceptional people to join our Guitar Teacher Training program and, ultimately, to teach at the School.
Maybe you tried teaching guitar and found that you didn’t know what to teach or that your students didn’t make the progress you wanted.
Perhaps you struggled with the “business” side – all the admin, paperwork, finding new students etc.
Or maybe you like the idea of teaching guitar but don’t know where to start?
Guitar Teacher Training
Our unique program will help you learn and understand a comprehensive range of specific teaching principles and psychology as it relates to teaching guitar. You’ll learn how to motivate and inspire students, how to train them to practise effectively and how to keep them interested in playing guitar as a lifelong skill. You’ll be trained in the curriculum and methods that we use to get such great results for our students.
Auckland Guitar School is a fast-growing guitar school with an outstanding reputation, specialising in modern guitar styles. Owner Dylan Kay has over 20 years of high-level teaching and playing experience himself, has taught many hundreds of students and is passionate about helping others learn to teach guitar to a very high standard. We provide a supportive, enjoyable work environment with a great team and great students. The School takes care of all the administration and paperwork so that you can focus entirely on teaching your students. We are dedicated to helping our teachers develop their skills and career.
“But I’ve never taught anyone before – do I need experience?”
Actually this is a benefit – in the same way that self-taught guitarists develop all sorts of bad habits, most guitar teachers have no training and effectively treat their students like guinea pigs. We will take the time to educate you and give you the experience you need, with careful monitoring and feedback along the way. By the time you get out in front of students on your own to teach, you will understand how to get students the results they want much better than the vast majority of guitar teachers out there.
“I can teach already, why do I need training?”
You may need less training, but any teachers who work for the School will need to undertake some part of the training program. It is essential that everyone who teaches here understands and is consistent in their use of the specific methods and systems that we use to get great results for our students. It is also important to us that everyone on our team is open to continuing education and developing their skills.
Is this you?
If you’re looking for a career as a professional guitar teacher and the following statements describe you, we’d love to hear from you!
- You play guitar to a high level (and can read music notation).
- You relate well to people from all walks of life, and of all ages (from 6 year olds through to retirees)
- You have excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- You have a strong work ethic, lots of self-motivation and a positive attitude.
